About Time

I read the news today, oh boy
About a hockey team who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh…
Taking creative license from the Beatles, the Montreal Canadians are glad to finally be making their first post-season appearance since DHL Season 12. After 11 seasons of being off the schneid, the team have tempered expectations heading into the playoffs versus their first round opponent – Philadelphia Flyers. A big step was taken this year and we hope that the youth of the team has learned from the experience as they will be counted upon to lead the team in the future. The city is as equally excited with fans spilling into the streets on Sunday night right after the team clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 victory over Buffalo and continued to party until being cannon hosed away so that the local fire departments could start cleaning the burning debris left behind. We can only imagine what will happen should the team proceed further into the post-season.
After a slew of changes last off-season, management were convinced that the pieces had been assembled to achieve the goal of the playoffs, so much so that the only move made through the season was a couple of waiver claims to augment the defense when struck by injuries and to find a back-up goalkeeper capable of allowing the team to rest Henrik Lundqvist when required. Fortunately, the team breezed through a relatively healthy season but will make moves in the off-season to address positional depth although that depth may be cultivated from within as there is a wealth of prospects just about ready to make the transition to the pros.
Montreal would like to with our first round opponent all the best and look forward to what is hoped to be a competitive series.
