Blues Prospect Rating Season 19

1.Sam Bennett:
Potential 1st line player. Had a shoulder injury for much of the season. After he was cleared to play went back to Junior (OHL) and has absolutely killed it. 11GP 11G and 13 A. Should be ready for the DHL in season 21.

2. Bo Horvat:
Has started to receive more ice time in Vancouver. Has responded ny putting good offensive numbers since the All-Star break. Has 60GP 13G and 10A. Will be ready for the DHL season 20. I should have sent him back to my prospect list but forgot before the season.

3. Nick Schmaltz:
High end offensive talent. Will probably play 2 more seasons at UND so won’t be ready for the DHL until season 24. Is 4th on UND with 26 pts in 36 games which for a true freshman in the clutch and grab NCHC is nice production.

4. Brady Skjei:
Big mobile dmen who will probably have greater success at the NHL level than his college numbers indicate. Players such as Erik Johnson, Nick Leddy and Ryan McDonough have all gone through the pressures of being a 1st rd pick and living up to the hype. It seems that college production at defense is not a strong indicator of future success. While Skjei has been really good his talents far outweigh his production. However, with his combo of size and skating I expect him to be a top 4 dmen as soon as he leaves the U of M.

5. Chris Tierney:
Plays a strong 2 way game and has started to add offense in the last few, Has played 38 games for San Jose this year and has shown flashes that he is not only defensively astute but that he has enough offense ability to possibly play top 6 in the future. Some San Jose scouts even going so far as to compare him to Joe Pavelski. Should be ready to play DHL season 20.

6. Gustav Olofsson:
I may be bias here and rate him higher than most. Especially since he missed this whole year, but having watched him his game reminds me a of a bigger Jonas Brodin. I expect him to be on the Wild starting next year provided his shoulder injury checks out. Ready for DHL by season 21.

7. Hudson Fasching:
True power forward. Hopefully will have the same trajectory as another MN born kid in Anders Lee.
Did not have a great sophomore season at the U of M but nobody really did.

Wildcard:
Alex Burmistrov:
High end talent that if he decides to come back could provide a nice boost to the Blues organization.

8. Pontus Aberg:
Young goal scorer who has a nice 2 way game. Started out hot but has not had a very good 2nd half. Why he dropped in my rankings.

9. Maxim Letunov
10. Nick Shore

Honorable mention:
Adam Gilmour
Dylan Labbe
Kyle Rau
Jon Draeger
Grant Besse
