Former Chicago Blackhawks GM and DHL favourite Jonathan White has been spied at several team offices throughout the past two weeks. All the organisations in question have refused to comment but speculation is rife that White could make a comeback at some point within the next month.

Although no team currently has any vacancies, the bookies are speculating that White’s former team are eyeing up his return with odds of 12/1. Other teams linked with White include the Tampa Bay Lightning (14/1), Winnipeg Jets (25/1) and Calgary Flames (40/1) [Although with no source on record it’s difficult to assess where the heat may be coming from].

Despite much hype that came with his previous role, the experienced White’s tenure in Chicago was ultimately¬† a disappointment following 11 cup-less seasons where his best run was only as far as game 7 of the 2nd round. He stepped down at the conclusion of season 20 in the hope that a fresh mind could reinvigorate the team and bring success to an organisation that has always shown a lot of potential. It looks like that break could be short lived however.

When approached for comment directly White wasn’t giving much away with regards to which team, but did confirm discussions had taken place.

“There is interest on both sides regarding a potential return to DHL (referring to league commissioner John Lu). I miss having the opportunity to [expletive deleted] over Ben (Ottawa Senators GM) in trades.”

For now it looks like we will have to wait and see on White’s return, but it is definitely a case of when rather than if.
