Red Wings land Mike Ribeiro from Ducks

The Detroit red wings have been looking for a No. 2 center to feed skilled wingers like Ryan  Callahan, Alex Steen, Jason Pominville since the season began. They hope they finally found one in the last moment today when they acquired Mike Ribeiro from the Anaheim Ducks for forward Justin Abdelkader.

“We wanted to add a little bit of skill to our lineup,” Detroit general manager Pasi said. “We liked the way we have played. We’ve got some big, gritty forwards, but we wanted to put another skilled guy in the middle of it to see if it helps. I think it makes our team immediately better.”
Ribeiro has 15 goals and 45 points this season and he is signed for two more seasons.
