THE MINNESOTA WILD WERE EXPECTED TO STRUGGLE WITH THE CANUCKS STRONG GOALTENDING BUT GOT SOME OUTSTANDING GOALTENDING THEMSELVES AS PETR MRAZEK OUT-DUELED CORY SCHNEIDER IN A 5 GAME SERIES WIN.

Mzarek squashed any concerns he could be a number one posting a 1.26 GAA and .955 save percentage in round one vs. the Canucks.
But the MVP of round one could be a mid season acquisition Marian Hossa who lead the Wild with a 4 goal effort. Indeed, it was the 3rd line that carried the series victory as Darren Helm, Tyler Johnson and Hossa combined for 13 points, 7 goals, 1 shorty and 2 game winners. Pundits had lauded the Canucks 3rd line as a difference maker but the ‘Shaker line’ had different plans.

Move over Jagr, there is a new elder statesman in the DHL and his name is Hossa
Now the Wild await their round 2 opponent with the Sharks and Oilers leading their series and the defending champ Blues waiting after dropping the Kings. Is there a preferred opponent for the Wild? GM Ransom did suggest he would relish facing the Oilers “Spike and I have been on a collision course all season, I would love to put his team to rest in a best of seven series”.

The Wild would love nothing more than to wipe that smug grin off pretty boy Spike’s face.
For now the team rests and waits.
