WILD CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH

With a 3-2 overtime win against the LA Kings, the Minnesota Wild clinched a playoff berth. Their first post season appearance since season 18 when they were eliminated in the first round by the San Jose Sharks. The team did a retool, a complete overhaul but in short order. One of those newly acquired players, Milan Looch Lucic, got the biggest goal of the season in OT on Sunday.

Looch scored in OT to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

The Wild having clinched a playoff berth, now turn their sites to winning the Howe division. With a loss last night in Nashville, the St. Louis Blues took over top spot in the division but with six games left including a head to head match up in St. Louis the division is still up for grabs.

Time for STL John to put away the Blues jammies and come play some sim hockey.

If the Wild do manage to win the division, the reward could be a first round match up with the Sharks. While a weaker opponent would be more ideal, the Wild have some demons to exercise and could start by taking out the team that has consistently broken the hearts of Wild fans everywhere.

The end of season schedule is as follows:

Detroit at Minnesota
Minnesota at St. Louis
Detroit at Minnesota
Minnesota at Vancouver
Edmonton at Minnesota
Minnesota at Nashville
