Worst GM….F-U !
- Updated: February 8, 2016

I was amused to see the latest poll in the ” I want to see how great I am” best/worst GM poll. To me ,this is nothing more to me than the author making every effort to see how great he is, which obviously was a huge fail. Having said all that, I would love to explain to everyone how wonderfully incredible I am. It kills me to hear how having a total rebuild is the greatest way to go and anyone who does that or the polar opposite is deemed unworthy. In the NHL it takes 7-10 years for a team to gel enough from a rebuild to actually compete, and that is if everything falls into place. Discuss all you want but I don’t give a crap, it is reality. I joined this league in Season 8 and at that time, the team consisted of Joe Thornton and a ton of overpriced players with an average age of 30. He was also 2 million from the cap.
Here is a list of their incredible prospects at that time the previous GM, who apparently was so great, had assembled:
Kyle Wharton, Alexander Radulov, Michal Barinka, Matthew Spiller, Peter Aston, Roman Wick.
WOW….that fucking rocks !!!!!!
The following year he left us in even greater shape..Nashville had NO draft picks……..i say it again , NO picks.lovely.
I recognized the lack of depth and decided at that time, through trial and error, to “retool” and try and make sure that every deal I made was a positive one. I failed at times, but also believe I have passed more times than not.Season 9 ended with Nashville having 59 points, and I learned a lot that first season. We continued to rebuild and continued to INCREASE our point totals for 4 straight before having a slight decrease. Since season 12 we have averaged 69 points, not great, but not terrible. More importantly, here is who we have added to our depth pool, roster and prospect list:
Marcus Johansson
Chris Kreider
Tyson Barrie
Simon Despres
Aaron Ekblad
Matt Dumba
Ryan Strome
Micheal Dal Colle
Kirby Rychel
Andrei Vasilevski
Timo Meier
Brendan Perlini
Brian Dumoulin
Johnathan MacLeod
Lucas Lessio
Mike Hoffman
Anthony Mantha
Timo Meier
Igor Shesterkin
Kaapo Kahkonen
Eriah Hayes
Steven Fogarty
Jeremy Welsh
Laurent Dauphin
Carter Verhaeghe
Nichilas Meloche
Kyle Capobianco
David Warsofsky
Philippe Cornet
Beau Starrett
Tyler Biggs
Alexander Ruutu
Brian Hart
Brent Sutter
Andreas Englund
Austin Levi
Chris Summers
John Ramage
Brendan Mikkelson
Tyler Cuma
Brad Thiessen
Jeremy Smith
Sam Brittain
Scott Stajcer
Some will work out, some I have moved for sure assets, but there is NO denying that this team is in MUCH better shape than it was.
My point in all this??? Don’t look at a glass as half empty, as it is always almost full. Don’t always think that your way is the best way, for there are many way’s to be successful. And for god sakes, look at the big picture, stop patting yourselves on the back and appreciate the work we ALL put into this, no matter what avenue you decide to go down.
Your poll ?? Couldn’t care a less….but it surely was a fun read !!!
