Landeskog Making Big Impact

The Bolts made a huge splash a couple of days ago, sending off Bryan Rust and youngster Pius Suter in return for Gabriel Landeskog. Landy had a huge cap hit and wasn’t a lot better than Rust (but still better) so there were questions if the trade was worth it. The Bolts were even making Landeskog play down the middle as their top line center between youngster Kaprizov and Svechnikov so it was risky putting Landy in a position he’s not normally accustomed to playing at. So far though it appears that the move is paying off big time.

In 4 games so far Landy has put up 4 goals (including 2 game winners in his first 2 games), 3 assists and 6 hits with the Bolts going 3 – 1 – 0 in that time frame as well. It should also be noted that all those games had Aaron Dell in net rather than Pavel Francouz. So in the short time that he’s been a Bolt, Landeskog has easily been their best player. He will continue to play down the middle and give the Bolts a 2 headed monster at center with himself and Horvat both being big two-way powerforwards who can score.

Now one may ask are the Bolts done with the big moves? Right now they have just under 1M in cap space (1.2M if Tim Schaller is banished to the Shadow Realm) so not a ton of space to make a move. It has been rumored that the Bolts GM has been in talks still around the league even though they are right up against the cap. It is believed they are looking for a blueline upgrade to give Francouz a bit more defensive help. The Bolts smell blood in the water and are looking to make a run at the franchises first ever championship.
