Trade Winds in St Louis (recapping the Blues recent activity)

The St Louis Blues are not standing still after the season 21 cup win. In a flurry of trades the St Louis Blues traded nearly 1/3 of their Cup winning team and with the expected retirements of Erik Cole and Stephen Weiss the Blues will have big changes next season. It all started when the Blue traded Logan Couture and a couple picks (Boston 2 yr 23 and St Louis 3rd yr 24) for Andrew Ladd, Jacob Trouba and prospect Brock Boeser.
The next deal saw Trouba immediately shipped out for Phil Kessel and a 1st round pick (Pitt 1 yr 24). That with any luck will be a lottery pick (sorry Justin).
Then came the blockbuster when the St Louis Blues acquired a new face of the franchise in, super sniper, Steven Stamkos. The blues shipped out highly regarded prospect Sam Bennett, Andrew Ladd and there own yr 24 1st.
After all those deals went down there was a day lull between the next round of trades. St Louis made 3 trades in a matter of hours the first being with Anaheim. The Blues traded, top line talent and power forward, James Neal and, #1 dmen, Kris LeTang for a bevy of futures. (Robby Fabbri, Lawson Crouse, Nick Ritchie, Josh Morrissey and Anaheim 1st yr 23) GM John Hanson stated “This was not a typical St louis deal. We have hesitated in the past to move top flight star players for futures, however, with the cap the way it is and a number of players up for raises we thought it was the appropriate time to make such a move. We have spent years ¬†fighting the salary cap, it will be nice to have a little room to make moves.”
In yet another move the Blues again traded with Ottowa. This time trading out recently acquired Phil Kessel for cash and pick 39, which was used to grab Ryan Lindgren.
and then…..
Another blockbuster, this time the Blues moved out Alex Ovechkin, Nick Holden and cash for Brent Burns, Josh Bailey, Edmonton 1st yr 23 and a 3rd pick yr 22
The Blues used the cash acquired in the Kessel trade to acquire Bryan Little, who has similar ratings and term to Kessel but is a little over 1 million less against the cap.

The Blues are still looking to be active and acquire some players that will help them try and repeat.
